Work work work

It's hard to live in a house at the same time you're making repairs and renovations. Bob (Vila) makes it all look so easy; and I guess if we were working on our vacation home with a crew of 20 guys doing most of the work, it would be easy. Easier, anyway.

That's not to say that doing the work isn't fun in its own way, but it can be kind of a drag. Especially when the project drags on for days and days, mainly because you're living in the construction zone. Consider the following problem:

This is our kitchen. It's a lot of fun to try to cook in there right now. Jack is kind of in the middle of this shot. He's supervising. That's the back of the wood cook stove to the left and the refrigerator to the right. This leaves us about 12" of space to squeeze through to get to the bathroom.

Here he is more in the middle of the kitchen - back when we could move more freely around the kitchen, that is. This picture was taken a few days ago.

Maybe tomorrow we'll finish this whole side of the kitchen....

Sleepy recap

Here's a fun picture of the cats having their breakfast.

Today was another fun day with Lyssa down in Amish country. One of the big things we ended up with was the missing turn shovel that was supposed to come with my high wheel cultivator. Next week looks like a great time to give it a try.

I also ended up with three HUGE boxes of woolen sweaters (thank you, Sarah!!) that are destined to be recycled into either felted projects or unraveled and reworked. Wow. I still haven't even looked through everything - just skimmed the tops of the boxes, and Lyssa and I are already plotting. Did I mention wow?

I'm also finishing up the evening with the first fruits of my kombucha class; this one is grape. I have another one that will be ready in the next few days I made with a strong chai black tea - I think that particular blend might be my new favorite. Next time I brew up a batch I'll take pictures to document the process.

For now, I'm going to go imitate Avalanche here:
